9/10/2017 2 Comments Beginners Guide to High schoolThe transition from Middle School to High School (or for us Caribbean babies, Preparatory School to High School) can be tough, it can seem to be unnerving and intimidating. If you need a little bit of advice, this one's for you.
High School. One of the scariest moments for any 11 year old girl. I remember that day just like it was yesterday. At 7:20 on the dot was when I entered my now Alma mater. I kept my head down because well, as much as I hated to admit, I was pretty shy and knowing absolutely no one really didn't help one bit. The school bell rang and the sea of burgundy that was students in their uniforms hustled and bustled to their respective form rooms. I followed with my mother right behind me, you know for moral support. That day was one of the most exciting but scariest day of my life. TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL ♛ TIME CHECK Time Management is one of the most important skills you as a student will need to acquire in your years of high school. Whether it is when doing your homework, studying and even in test and exams. Timing is very important. You have to know how to balance out your time in order to get things done efficiently and effectively. The best way to start out your year in high school is to be early. It places a good impression on you and it helps you as an individual also. I remember being late to almost all my exams in the second to last year of high school. It causes anxiety and a large amount of stress on an individual. It causes you to forget everything you studied or learnt in class and in the end you WILL fail. Trust me, I know this from experience. Manage your time well, be on time and you will succeed. ♛ FRIENDS GALORE Making new friends is really the meat of the matter for some people. Friends, Friends, Friends is all a lot of students think about. I'm here to tell you that, yes it is good to have friends but don't let them overshadow your real purpose in school, to get an education. You might be thinking right now, boy does she sound like my mother, but hey, its true. I'm a teen too and I know for a fact friends are not all that. Ensure to choose your friends not based on popularity and who will make you look better. However, friends should be chosen based on who you think will help you grow as an individual in life, people who you can have a long term relationship with. Choose your friends wisely and be sure to recognize who are your real friends and who are fake before letting out all your life problems. Remember a friend is not only a companion but should also be like family. Someone you can talk to, be honest with and can trust completely. Have a safe first year at high school kids and for those who this is just another year for them, be safe and don't worry it will all be over soon. From your friend, TeensUncensored
